3/26/20 – Building family and community connections (even with the birds!)

My son is here with me and I’m taking intentional steps to connect with him (he’s 15, so not always interested in hanging with mom!) – yesterday we played chess (he won, of course, but I did better than I ever have!), and we put together a stool that I had ordered several weeks ago.  We work pretty well together, I’d say!

I also added suet to my birdfeeder stations!  It made me think about how in the past I couldn’t afford to feed the birds (good bird seed isn’t cheap!), and it made me grateful how far I’ve come in the last 10-15 years and I can now afford birdseed πŸ™‚

Also did a social distancing walk with my friend and neighbor, and connected with other neighbors.  It’s so nice to know my neighbors and know we can work together.  I also called another neighbor who is elderly and alone and my plan is to call him every other day.

Sunshine today, and warmer temps!  There ‘s still snow on the driveway, but It’s slowly melting πŸ™‚

Be happy and healthy!

3/25/20 – Spring Snowstorm!

The other day we had a lot of snow – probably 12 inches, when they had called for 3-6 inches!  We had just started seeing the ground and now it’s all covered back up!  Shouldn’t last too long – at least that’s what my plow guy said.  Or, maybe he just didn’t feel like plowing πŸ™‚

I’ve been watching the ravens (or maybe crows – I still can’t totally tell the difference if they’re not side-by-side) enjoy the compost pile and put out some bird feeders the other day, in hopes I’ll be able to see some other critters.  I’m sure I’ll be seeing some squirrels and chipmunks soon.

I’ve been going for daily walks (now my son is forced to come with me!) and the other day when there was bare ground I saw some lovely wintergreen and club moss.  So nice to see green, growing things!

The sun’s out today so I’ll be sure to put my sunscreen on,  get outside, and have some more updates for you!
