The sun is out again today so we got to spend some time outside! My son and I finally got to “planting” the shitake mushroom plugs I bought into the maple tree my boyfriend cut a few weeks ago.
I’ve been wanting to do this for years! I have 20 acres of woods and always imagined creating a productive forest garden and mushrooms were part of that equation.
It takes about a year to have any real harvest, but I think it keeps coming for several years after that. I’ll plan to plant some every spring moving forward.
Has anybody done this before and have any recommendations or experiences you want to share? Let me know!
